Big Local is funded by the National Big Lottery Community Fund and managed by Local Trust, however it is the local residents in each area that are running the project on a day to day basis. Local Trust works with a range of partners nationally to provide expert advice, access to the skills and experiences of others and support for the local residents. Each area has a dedicated Local Area Advisor ‘Rep’ from Local Trust who acts as a mentor to the group.
Both of the resident led Big Local Partnerships in Arley & Ansley and Hill Top & Caldwell have chosen CAVA to act as their Locally Trusted Organisation (LTO) which means that they provide a number of services to the group including employing any staff, acting as our banker, providing liability insurance together with advice and guidance on community issues.
Hill Top & Caldwell (HTC) in Nuneaton were also one of 150 areas in England to receive at least £1M in funding to enable people who live in the area to build on local talents and aspirations so they can identify and act on their own needs to make their area an even better places to live, both now and in years to come.
The community drives HTC Big Local, where the Partnership is made up of a majority of residents who live or work in the area.
HTC are also in the final phase of their programme, and have just adopted the last Plan to run from 2022-2026. Their vision states that:
HTC will be a place that its residents are proud of. Our beautiful green spaces will be used to their full potential to create an environment that enables our wellbeing and enhances our area. The area will be one where people from outside admire the community spirit. People will be enabled with wellbeing, learning and social opportunities in the community where they will be actively involved. Our young people, families and older people will be empowered to take advantage of and create activities and opportunities. The community will have a voice which is recognised as a force for positive change in the Hill Top and Caldwell area and community.
